Eight-year-old Valerie has always been a happy, active little girl; but, when she started having seizures in 2015, her parents worried she would no longer be able to play with her brothers in the same way. Since then, Valerie has been building strength and stamina on her right side through physical therapy and is doing very well.
My Gym Challenged America (MGCA) gifted Valerie a trampoline to continue to increase her physical strength at home. In fact, our Director of Development, Aleah Whaley, visited the family home to help build this crucial piece of play equipment.
Valerie’s brothers immediately jumped in to help and couldn’t wait to be part of this exciting process. Older brother, Omar, helped his younger brother with encouragement and the occasional “Dad Joke” while they all worked together as a team to create a safe space to increase Valerie’s quality of life.
MGCA’s goal is to bring happiness to the lives of children who face incredibly difficult challenges. While we recognize the great need for medical services, we focus on granting gifts that allow these children to experience the joys of childhood, and we couldn’t do it without your help.
