Josie was born with a deletion of Chromosome 15, which led to severe cognitive, psychological, and developmental delays and prevented her from experiencing her childhood to its fullest. She had a spinal fusion two years ago after many spinal rod adjustments, and she has never been able to ride a bike because of her surgeries and consequent balance issues.
Josie’s mom wrote to MGCA asking for help. She wanted a tricycle for Josie to give her the experience and exhilaration of riding a bike outdoors. She also wanted to give Josie the opportunity to experience childhood in a new, thrilling way.
Now, excited with her new trike, Josie happily rides around her neighborhood while strengthening her core and building confidence in a joyous, active way.
